Planting Milkweed Along the Mississippi

John Byron Kuhner, one of the founders of the Catskill Native Plant Society, took a two month bicycle trip up the Mississippi starting out in New Orleans in March.  He planted milkweed seeds appropriate for each area all along the way.

Since he was running out of milkweed seeds, I sent a package of  Asclepius syriaca, common milkweed and A. incarnata, swamp milkweed, to meet him in Memphis so that he would have some more seeds to plant.

Since I have given away thousands of seeds this year, I didn’t have a large quantity to send, but some is better than none.

Yea Johnny Milkweed Seed…..the monarchs thank you…..
